International Women's Day a major fundraiser for Women's House

Capacity crowd filled the Lakeshore Recreation Centre

Ontario Power Generation's Table hosted by Lynda Cain (R) had several guests join them including Bruce County Museum's Executive Director Kathy McGirr (C), Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie (3rd R) and Saugeen Shores Vice-Deputy Mayor, Diane Huber (2nd R).

Bruce County's annual International Women's Day celebration was held locally at the Lakeshore Recreation Centre in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores) on Tuesday, March 8th (2016) with a capacity crowd in attendance.

The event is held each year in recognition of women and the role they have played in building equality for women and is a major fundraiser for the Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey.

The evening featured a dinner, silent and live auctions, Yuk Yuk's comediennes, and special guest speaker and 'Woman of Distinction' recipient, Dr. Karen Ann Bridge.

Among the major sponsors for the event, were Bruce Power, Ontario Power Generation, the Power Workers' Union (PWU) and the Engineering Society of Professionals and businesses who donated to the auctions.
