Thieves continue to steal wind turbine copper wire

Copper Wire Stolen

On March 28, 2016 at 2:16 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial (OPP) received a report of copper wire theft from the Armow Wind Project site in Kincardine Township.  Between March 17, 2016 and March 24, 2016, 2 wind turbines were forcibly entered and approximately 10 metres of 2 gauge copper wire was taken.  There is no estimate on the value of the stolen property at this time. The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.

ATV stolen

On March 26, 2016 at 12:13 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence in the 500 block of Bruce County Road 6 in Culross Township.  Sometime between 8:00 p.m. on March 25, 2016 and 11:00 a.m. on March 26, 2016 a Green 2008 Yamaha Grizzly 700 All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with licence 51RR6 was taken.  The ATV has a broken rear fender and there is no estimate on the value at this time.

Generator stolen

On March 25, 2016 at 7:22 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence in the 800 block of Grey Ox Avenue in Kinloss Township.  Sometime between March 22, 2016 and March 25, 2016, a detached shed on the property was forcibly entered.  A Red and Black Honda generator valued at $800 was taken. The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.

A male driver from Port Elgin has been charged with Racing following a traffic stop that took place on March 19, 2016. At 1:12 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling eastbound on Brandon Road east of Brussels at a high rate of speed.  The officer confirmed his visual observations of the approaching vehicle with a RADAR device and confirmed the speed of the racing truck at a high of 132 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. 

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver a 42 year-old male from Port Elgin has been charged with “Race a Motor Vehicle”.  He has a court appearance scheduled for May 10, 2016 at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich.  His licence was suspended for seven days and his motor vehicle was impounded for a week.
