Police reiterate ... Lock it or lose it

Police received a threatening complaint and commenced an investigation. A male, age 27, from Saugeen Shores, has been charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
Sometime overnight from March 21st at 9:00 pm until March 22nd at 9:00 am, the front window at the Dollar Tree store on Goderich Street was broken by a rock.
10:30am, police received a report of a stolen vehicle. A pick-up truck was stolen overnight from a residence on Arlington Street. The keys had been left in the vehicle. On March 25th the vehicle was located at the Southampton Snowmobile Club off of Concession 14. Items identifying a suspect had been left in the vehicle. After investigation, a young person, age 16, admitted responsibility and has been charged with Theft.
5:30pm, police received a complaint of a fail to remain motor vehicle accident. A 2012 Toyota Tundra received damage to the front driverís side corner. It is believed the damage occurred while the vehicle was parked in front of the hospital on High Street in Southampton.
Police received numerous calls to respond to tree limbs and hydro lines creating hazardous situations due to the ice storm. Police were also kept busy responding to alarms due to the power outages.
Police received a complaint of an attempted break and enter at a business on Goderich Street in Port Elgin. The culprits had been unsuccessful in breaking into a locked office but had caused considerable damage. Two males, a young person age 16, and an adult, age 20, have been charged with Break and Enter with Intent and with Mischief.
Two bicycles were stolen from separate locations in the area of Green and Goderich Streets in Port Elgin. The owner of one of the bicycles observed the theft of his bike and followed the persons involved. He was able to recover one of the stolen bikes but not his own (a Specialized Hardrock). Police later located the Specialized bike and returned it to the owner.
A 2016 Subaru Imprezza, royal blue in colour, was stolen between 8:30pm on March 25th and 8:50am on March 26th. The vehicle was stolen from Sumpton Street in Port Elgin. On March 26th at 3:15pm, the vehicle was located on a property on Concession 14. The vehicle had been driven into a field. The incident is still under investigation.
A vehicle on North Shore Rd was entered overnight and sunglasses were stolen. The past week police have been busy responding to theft occurrences. Donít assist someone in making you a victim. Lock up your property.
