The countdown is on and there are only 10 days left until the community BBQ for Constable Andy Stewart and his family on April 16th.
The BBQ is being hosted by Mowbray's Canadian Tire in Port Elgin and it's shaping up to be an exciting day.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be police vehicles for the kids and 'kids at heart', there will be EMS vehicles and, word has it, that there may even be an antique fire truck.
For those old enough to remember, there was once a motto that was sung ... "Harvey's makes a hamburger - a beautiful thing"!
Well, things haven't changed and, on the day of the BBQ, it will be Harvey's burgers served up when Marcel Legault, owner of Harvey's Swiss Chalet in Port Elgin, donates the burgers for the 'barbie'.
There will also be a Silent Auction and they are still looking for items to be donated.
For anyone so inclined and with a deadline of April 7th, contact Lorri Trafelet of Saugeen Shore Police during business hours at 519-832-9200.
Rowland's Independent Grocer has also come on board with a gift certificate that will go toward providing the condiments for the burgers.
The BBQ and fun is by donation and is all about how the community of Saugeen Shores comes together to help one of its own families.
