Alcohol related incidents result in charges

On April 2, 2016 at 4:59 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver operating a black Lincoln Navigator southbound on Taylor Street, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. Police located and stopped the vehicle. Police found the driver had been drinking alcohol and was committing several other offences.

 The 33 year old male driver of South Bruce Peninsula has been charged with driving with an open container of alcohol, driving a motor vehicle with no licence, novice driver with a B.A.C above zero, G1 drive unaccompanied by a qualified driver, impaired operator of a motor vehicle, over 80 mgs and breaching of recognizance.  

The accused was held for a bail hearing on April 3, 2016 and released on a recognizance. He is required to appear before the Owen Sound Court of Justice April 21, 2016 to answer to the charges.

On April 1, 2016 at 8:04 p.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a grey Chevrolet Cavalier for driving more than 50 kilometers over the posted speed limit; southbound on Highway 6 and Pike Bay Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. Police investigation revealed the driver had also been drinking alcohol.

The 33 year old driver female from Wiarton has been charged with race a motor vehicle, novice driver B.A.C. above zero, and driving over 80 mgs. Police seized and impounded the vehicle for 7 days.

She is scheduled to appear before the Owen Sound Court of Justice on April 14, 2016 to answer to the charges.

On April 3, 2106 at 9:28 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report concerning an intoxicated male observed on Frank Street, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

The male was reported to be stumbling and falling down on the roadway. Police located and arrested the male. The 34-year-old male from Wiarton was charged with being intoxicated in a public place, section 31(4), of the Ontario Liquor Licence Act.

He was held overnight at the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment until sober and released.
