Cook-off alumni, Police Chief Dan Rivett (R), explains the rules to the other judges

The 13th annual memorial 'Cliff Seaman Chili Cook-off' was held Saturday 23rd (2016) at the Port Elgin Legion.

Four 'celebrity' judges, Councilor Cheryl Grace, Police Chief Dan Rivett, past-winner Ernie Seaman and Mike Gallagher tasted their way through 14 chili entries.  The 'blind-taste' event  was based on texture, colour, consistency, spice, aroma and, of course, taste.  Each chili was numbered so that the judges did not know who submitted them and they ranged from mild to 'explosive'!

Councilor Cheryl Grace stepped in as a 'sub-judge' for Councilor Dave Myette who unavoidably could not attend

Mike Gallagher (L) and Ernie Seaman took their judging very seriously

The winners this year were Blair Eby (1st) and Paul Seaman (2nd).

Following the official judging, a chili lunch was held with proceeds going to charity.  A final dollar amount raised is yet to be determined.
