Port Elgin Rotary Club's 2016 Home and Recreation show held at Southampton Coliseum on April 9th and 10th was a resounding success.

"This was the first time we held a two-day event and attendance was the highest number we've seen since 2008," says organizer Rotarian Dan Murawsky, "with approximately 2,300 coming through."

It was also the second year that a Food and Drink Expo was held in conjunction with the Home show, where 12 food and drink vendors offered items to the public.

There were three Craft Breweries represented- Southampton's Outlaw Brew Company, MacLean's Brewery from Hanover and Beau's All Natural Brewery from Vanleek (ON) along with eight local restaurants - Chester's Bar & Grill, Duffy's Fish & Chips, Elk & Finch Coffee Pub and Bistro, Forge & Thistle Wee Pub, Ristorante Rosins, Queen's Bar & Grill, the Walker House and the Wismer House.  In addition, South Stables Coffee House of Southampton was the show's exclusive coffee vendor.

"Something new this year," added Murawsky, "was the 'Best in Show' trophy sponsored by Dot Net Computers that was awarded to the favourite restaurant as voted on by the public."  The first recipient as the Queen's Bar and Grill of Port Elgin.

This year's raffle had two prizes ... an LG 49" TV, partially sponsored by Square Deal Neil's of Southampton and Rowland's Independent Grocer of Port Elgin, and a second prize of an IPad Mini donated by Bruce Power .

Darlene Longmire won the IPad and her son helped collect it from Rotary Treasurer Ken Dolbeck

Proceeds from the raffle are donated to the Rotary on-going Hospital fundraising campaign while general proceeds from the Home Show go toward various local and international Rotary causes.
