On Saturday, May 28th, Lakeshore Recreation in Port Elgin will be hosting Saugeen Shores' first ever 'Lip Sync Battle'.

The event is in support of Caitlyn Cobean's Community Crusaders (CCCC) who have teamed up with the Tara 'Boom' Houston Children's Foundation (www.tbhcf.com)

The 'Crusaders' was founded by family and friends of Caitlyn Cobean, a local teen who sadly lost her battle with cancer in August, 2008, and is the local Grey-Bruce chapter of 'Taraboom'.

'Taraboom' based in St. Thomas (ON), was incorporated as a charitable organization by Sheri and Scott Houston in memory of their daughter Tara who, at the age of seven, died from a terminal brain stem tumour, six months after diagnosis.

The Foundation initiated in her memory is volunteer-driven and was established to help families who may be going through a situation with critical illness as that experienced by the Houstons.

The Foundation however, is help with a difference. For families going through crises, it is often the everyday living that poses problems.  Paying a mortgage or utilities that may get behind because a family is looking after a sick child, can create additional family stress and that's where 'Taraboom' comes in with direct financial assistance.

That's also where the 'Lip Sync Battle' is gearing up to help.  Twelve acts will perform and lip sync a song that they have chosen and practised. The judges will then choose a winner based on presentation, originality, creativity, lip sync ability and, of course, audience appreciation.

Participation is by donation and, anyone who is interested in becoming a 'performer' can register at Lakeshore Recreation reception or print off a form found at www.lakeshorerecreation.com and drop it off.

All funds raised will go to Tara 'Boom' Houston Children's Foundation ( www.tbhcf.com ) to help improve the lives of families whose children who have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses.
