Several drivers charged for speeding and alcohol related offences

On June 4, 2016 at 11:30 p.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted traffic stop of a northbound vehicle on 6 Highway, near Emmet Lake Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Police investigation revealed a 2015 black Jeep Wrangler containing four passengers and the driver; was towing a trailer without lights. Further investigation revealed there was open alcohol within the vehicle.  A 24-year-old driver from Oromocto, New Brunswick, was charged with driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available and with no red light on rear of trailer.

On June 2, 2016 at 8:59 p.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a black 2009 GMC Acadia for driving more than 50 kilometers over the posted speed limit, on 6 Highway, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, ON. Police seized and impounded the vehicle for seven days.

A 32-year-old driver from Ancaster, ON, has been charged with race a motor vehicle, fail to surrender licence, fail to notify change of address and fail to have an insurance card. He is scheduled to appear at the Owen Sound Court of Justice on July 18, 2016 to answer to the charges.

On June 4, 2016 at 8:28 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from concerned witnesses regarding an intoxicated male sitting in the driverís seat of a motor vehicle, with the engine running. Police located the male and vehicle on the beach of Sauble Beach, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.  

The intoxicated male was arrested for care or control of a motor vehicle and was transported to the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment in Wiarton for breath tests, in which he failed.

The 21-year-old, from Kitchener, was charged with: care or control while impaired; care or control over 80 mgs; and having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

On June 4, 2016 at 11:18 a.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a blue 2015 Maserati Q4 for driving more than 50 kilometers over the posted 80 kilometer speed limit, on 6 Highway near Cemetery Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, ON. Police seized and impounded the vehicle for seven days. A 23-year-old female driver from Toronto, ON, has been charged with race a motor vehicle section 172 (1) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. She is scheduled to appear at the Owen Sound Court of Justice on July 11, 2016 to answer to the charges.
