In a throwback to last fall's election campaign, more than 50 people packed a room at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine for the first ever public meeting of the Huron-Bruce Federal Liberal Association on Wednesday, June 22nd.

President Virginia Schenk explained that in keeping with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's decision to throw open the doors of the federal Liberal party by opening free membership up to all, the local riding decided to invite the public to the monthly meeting of its executive.

The event also included a book signing by Allan Thompson, who was the federal Liberal candidate in last fall's election for Huron Bruce. Thompson contributed a chapter on his experience as a candidate to the Carleton University publication The Canadian Federal Election of 2015.

Thompson read some passages from the chapter and then signed copies of the book. Fincher's Books brought in copies of the books and had to run a wait list once their copies sold out.
