Drug warrant executed leading to many charges laid

On June 30, 2016, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement  Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit, West Region Emergency Response Team, and South Bruce OPP, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at  a residence on 3rdStreet in Chesley, in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

 As a result of the execution of the search warrant, Police seized methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, morphine, oxycodone, hydromorphone, psilocybin cannabis marihuana, cannabis resin, nabilone, anavar, and dianabol.  The estimated, combined street value of the seized controlled substances is $17,000.00. 

Police also seized offence related property that consisted of drug trafficking paraphernalia, along with 3 prohibited weapons, a firearm, bear spray, and an assortment of ammunition.

A 55 year-old male of Arran-Elderslie Township has been charged with 6 counts of assault police, 13 counts of possess a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, 6 counts of administer noxious substance, 3 counts of possess a prohibited weapon, possess a firearm without a licence, breach firearms regulations, possess firearm while prohibited, 3 counts of possess ammunition while prohibited and 3 counts of possess prohibited weapon while prohibited.

A 33 year-old male of Arran-Elderslie Township has been charged with 6 counts of assault police, 13 counts of possess a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, 6 counts of administer noxious substance, 3 counts of possess a prohibited weapon, breach firearms regulations and possess firearm without a licence.

A 33 year-old woman of Arran-Elderslie Township has been charged with 6 counts of assault police, 13 counts of possess a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, 6 counts of administer noxious substance, 3 counts of possess a prohibited weapon, breach firearms regulations and possess a firearm without a licence.

The accused were all held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing.

The officers were treated for minor injuries by Bruce County paramedics at the scene.
