The Council of the Town of Saugeen Shores is pleased to announce that Mr. David Smith has been hired as the Town’s new Chief Administration officer.  Smith (no relation to Mayor Mike Smith) will replace current CAO Larry Allison who announced his intention to retire from the municipality earlier this year after a lengthy career in local government.

Smith comes to Saugeen Shores with over 30 years of diverse public service background in the GTA, where he held positions with the City of Mississauga within their Recreation and Parks and Library Divisions, the City of Waterloo’s Community, Culture and Recreation Services Department culminating in his appointment to the Town of Halton Hills where he served as their Chief Administrative Officer. David has a degree from the University of Toronto, supplemented by numerous municipal related courses and other programs.

In accepting the position, Smith indicated that “Saugeen Shores has an excellent reputation as both a place to live and a place to work. I am delighted to be joining the Town as the CAO and appreciate the opportunity extended to me by Mayor Smith and his Council colleagues”.
