Crime Stoppers has been holding its major fundraiser golf tournament for 24 years and, this year, they had the first ever 'hole-in-one' winner.

Joe Dietrich of Trillium Mutual Insurance, was the third golfer to tee-off in his foursome when he hit a hole-in-one on the par three Hole #5 at Chippewa Golf Club and, today (Aug. 24), he picked up his winning cheque for $10,000.

"I don't consider myself a great golfer," says Dietrich, "and I was as surprised as anyone else when I hit a hole-in-one."

In addition to winning the $10,000, Dietrich also won a golf package for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and is considering going to Bermuda this winter on a golf excursion.

Next year, 2017, is Crime Stoppers 25th Golfing Anniversary and plans are already in the works to make it bigger and better than ever.

"We're already planning to meet in the fall and again in the winter to begin organizing what we think will be the biggest Crime Stoppers golf tournament yet," says Evan Hayter, who has helped organize every tournament over the years.
