Crime Stoppers is a volunteer-driven organization that assists law enforcement resolve crime and protect communities.

As a volunteer organization, Crime Stoppers depends on donations and fundraising and is not affiliated with  law enforcement for funding.

With the funds that area raised by the volunteers, Crime Stoppers is not only able to offer cash rewards for tips that impact criminal activities but also works to create awareness in communities that crime deterrents are at work.

On September 7th, Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce presented 20 signs to the Township of Southgate for posting throughout their municipality.

The production of these signs was only made possible by generous funding from the Township of Southgate.

"More communities have come forward this year in support of Crime Stoppers," says Board Chair Betty Bender.  "They are now beginning to realize that Crime Stoppers is all about volunteers and we are self-sustaining only through fundraising efforts.  All the volunteers believe in the program and work tirelessly to have it succeed and to help prevent crime in their own communities and others."

"We are very appreciative of those communities and organizations that have provided some financial support this year," adds Bender, "and we only hope that it continues as municipalities head into their budget deliberations for next year."
