Update on missing man - search continues

On September 20, 2016 at approximately 2:00 p.m. the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing kayak operator in the waters of Lake Huron between Chantry Island and the Saugeen Shores beach.  

 

Sixty-year-old David COUNSELL of Saugeen Shores was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt.  

OPP Helicopter, South Bruce OPP Marine unit, Saugeen Shores Police Service, Saugeen Shores Fire Department and Canadian Coast Guard are all assisting with the search.  

The kayak was found.  Divers from the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) have been called in to assist with the search.  

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.
