The event is held each June and, on Saturday, September 24th, organizers of the 28th annual event handed over than $40,400 to Saugeen Memorial Hospital and $4,400 to each of the Port Elgin Rotary and Southampton Rotary Clubs and the Saugeen Track & Field Club (STFC).

In 2008, there were just over 100 participants in the Huron Shore Run but that number has grown each year and, in 2016, more than 700 participated.

The original run/walk event has evolved to include a children's run, a qualifying half-marathon and a wellness fair and is expected to grow even more in the future.
