Under the Liberals, cuts to healthcare services have become far too frequent, and the Premier and her Health Minister need to be doing more to increase access and support for patients in need of medical treatment, says MPP for Huron-Bruce Lisa Thompson.

Thompson questioned the Premier today on why people are being forced to put their quality of life on hold due to the continued waste and mismanagement of this Liberal government.

"I've been hearing from all across the riding about seniors who are struggling to access the care they need in a timely manner. It is unacceptable that they should be made to wait in pain while this Premier continues to claim that this problem does not exist," said Thompson.

For instance, a Huron-Bruce constituent wrote to Thompson about a 15 month wait for orthopedic knee surgery. Upon calling the surgeon's office, it was learned that the wait times were a result of government regulations; this, despite the fact that there are surgeons available. The surgeon's office added that there are 300 people on the wait list and that some of them have been waiting for as long as two years.

"Ontarians are falling between the cracks in this Premier's broken health care system," said Thompson. "These excessive wait times are just one more example of how life has gotten harder for the people of Huron-Bruce under Premier Wynne," she concluded.
