'Hampton' started out this year at the location of the new upcoming Splash Pad at Jubilee Park in Southampton

He's a bear with flare as he flits from one social occasion to another.

'Hampton' may be a stuffed bear but he's also a social butterfly in the hands of Southampton Rotarians.

In the summer, he was handed over to the Southampton Rotary Club by District Governor Diane Chantler and Rotarian Tony Sheard is taking the handover seriously.

" 'Hampton' will be going with our Rotarians to social events and on trips and along the way we'll post his 'antics' on social media," says Sheard.

He's already attended many local events, has been to Iceland, will be going to Florida and is heading to England, so he is well traveled already.

'Hampton' attended the local SDSS commencement with Sylvia Sheard to present bursaries to Tara Campbell (L) and Rebecca Rayner (R)

In September, 'Hampton' learned about the relationship between Geometry and music at the Bruce County Museum lecture by mathematician and inventor, Mike Sterling

'Hampton' recently attended the annual Southampton Rotary dinner and auction in his 'spiffy' new Southampton T-shirt provided by Logan's Mens' Wear of Southamtpon

In June, 2017, 'Hampton' will be auctioned off with other Rotary Bears from various clubs, including 'Elgin' from Port Elgin Rotary.

All the monies raised through the auction will go to the polio eradication program, 'End Polio Now' that Rotary has undertaken in partnership with the Bill Gates Foundation and the WHO (World Health Organization).

Monday, October 24th is the fourth annual World Polio Day event and, since 1979, Rotary has helped almost eradicate polio world wide in all but two countries - Pakistan and Afghanistan.
