To the Editor:

A very well thought-out letter regarding local policing or O.P.P. .

Although we live in Tiverton, I can remember when Kincardine had its own police force and what a great job they did.

They knew the people and where they lived, and when teenagers misbehaved, they knew the parents also.  You were dead meat when you did something wrong.  They knew who drove what so they might be waiting for you, before you, when you got home.

They had a vested interest in the community and there was no here today, gone tomorrow to a new posting.  Keep it local.  Mary Allen,
Tiverton.

Shop with a Cop

A great event for all involved helping those in need, teaching valuable skills to the kids and developing relationships with our police officers.

I hope it will continue now that the Optimists are disbanding and I thank them as well as Scott Rowland for supporting our community of Saugeen Shores.

June Van Bastelaar.
