A powerful winter storm has been forecast for Southern Bruce County.  The expected heavy snow and strong winds are likely to make driving conditions very dangerous.  The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking residents to consider the following measures to prepare for winter storms:

  • Check propane, oil and other heating sources to ensure you have heat
  • Ensure you have sufficient groceries to outlast the storm
  • Get flashlights, batteries and battery powered or crank radio ready
  • A supply of bottled water for each person per day
  • Sufficient prescription medication to outlast the storm
  • If you have these items on hand, you need to ensure that they are easily accessible.

Winter storms can last anywhere from a few hours to several days.  Routine trips that can be post-poned should be post-poned in the interest of your safety.
