Stolen vehicle destroyed by fire

On November 28, 2016 at approximately 10:10 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on fire on 14thStreet West in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

 The Inter-Township Fire Department was at the scene. The vehicle, a red 2000 Chrysler Cirrus, which was destroyed by the fire, was found to have been reported stolen from a residence in Owen Sound earlier the same morning. 

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information which may assist to contact the Owen Sound Police Service or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.


On November 25, 2016 at approximately 9:07 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a report of an assault that had occurred on Berry Street in the Municipality of Meaford.

A Meaford man was assaulted after he had verbally confronted a young male observed breaking into a parked vehicle on Berry Street. 

The 54-year old victim, who was not injured, followed the youth to a residence nearby and waited for police to arrive. 

The 14-year old accused, who is known to police, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including, assault (x2), uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, theft under $5000 and breach of probation.  He is in custody pending an audio bail hearing scheduled for November 29, 2016.
