The Town of Saugeen Shores has a new Recreation Master Plan to guide recreation in the community for years to come.

The plan was officially received by Committee of Whole at the meeting on December 12th. Prepared by consulting firm Monteith Brown over the last 10 months, the document will be the guiding force behind recreation in Saugeen Shores for the next 15 years. The report is the result of independent research, evaluation of recreational facilities and programing, and public input including a survey and public meetings.

"We are all very passionate about recreation in this community," says Jayne Jagelewski, Director of Community Services with the Town of Saugeen Shores. "This passion is obvious from the tremendous response we received from the public as we completed this process. As a result of this feedback, a great plan has been created and we can begin reviewing and implementing the recommendations."

The 181pg document makes a number of recommendations including a new indoor aquatic facility and walking track, repurposing aging facilities, expanding drop-in programs and recognizing volunteers in the community.

Each recommendation will be reviewed and brought to council for approval as the plan is carried out over the next several years.
