Community leaders, volunteers and residents of Huron-Bruce were recognized for their community contributions last night at MPP Lisa Thompson's 5th Annual New Year's Levee and Remarkable Citizen Awards in Teeswater.

 "Each and every one of these individuals is a beacon in their community," said Thompson. "All of the work that they have done to bolster the spirit of the people around them hmily, friends and neighbours in attendance. Award recipients represented communities from all over Huron-Bruce, including Kincardine, Wingham, Walkertoas gone a long way to helping our communities prosper and grow in so many different ways."

Local recipients from Kincardine area include: Blake Evans (Tiverton), Lynn Evans (Kincardine), Vickie Cahill (Kincardine), Willa Schoffer (Kincardine) 

The event was a kick off to 2017, and marks the fifth year in a row that Thompson has hosted the ceremony. This year, nineteen individuals were recognized with family, friends and neighbours in attendance.

Award recipients represented communities from all over Huron-Bruce, including Kincardine, Wingham, Walkerton,  Brussels, Bluevale, Exeter, Teeswater, Goderich and Tiverton.

"It was truly heart-warming to hear about the selflessness of these individuals, and the diversity of talents that they use to make our towns a better place to live," said Thompson. "I could not be more proud of everyone, and I am thrilled to know that these individuals are in our communities inspiring others all across Huron-Bruce."
