A downtown Snow Mountain!
Line-up for the slide
The first annual Family Day Weekend Snow Fest in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores) has been a resounding success.
The even began Saturday, February 18th and continues through February 20th, Family Day.
A 'mountain' of snow was trucked in to the downtown core of Port Elgin on Green Street that had been cordoned off for the weekend.
The 'mountain' attracted hundreds of children. With anything that would slide, they climbed the 'mountain' and away they would go down the man-made shute.
While the slide was the main attraction, there was also road hockey, snow painting and decadently delicious ... s'mores cooked over a fire.

The event was hosted by the Port Elgin Business Improvement Association (BIA) and, according to Laura McInnes of the Wismer House, "We are already looking forward to next year. We can't believe how popular our first event has been!"
