To the Editor:

Let’s see ...

Annual inflation is hovering around 1% - 1.5%. Canada Pension Plan increased 1.4%. OAS increased 0.0%. OMERS pension increased 1.45%. Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan increased 1.3%.

How can Council justify a 4.04% increase? And on top of that there are 5% and 6% increases to the water and sewer rates respectively.

If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times…Council, you need to take a good look at what the Town is required to do under the Ontario Municipal Act and concentrate on those items.

Time to stop believing everything your staff tells you. It does make one wonder how many councilors have taken the time to actually read and understand the Municipal Act.

Council, you have once again let your residents down. You should be ashamed.

David Carey.
