Weekly Incidents - 101

January 16:

 Police attended a motor vehicle collision on Goderich Street at Market Street. A southbound vehicle had stopped behind another stopped vehicle when it was rear ended by a vehicle. There were no injuries. A driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

A theft was reported to police. The victim reported that he parked his vehicle in a parking lot while he went into the bank. The vehicle was not locked. When he returned to the vehicle his cell phone and a pair of coveralls had been stolen.

January 18:

 Police attended at a three vehicle collision that occurred on Goderich Street at Gustavus Street. A northbound vehicle struck a stopped vehicle and pushed it into another stopped vehicle. There were no injuries. A driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

Police received a complaint of an assault at Subway in Southampton. An intoxicated male had entered the restaurant and tried to start a fight with a customer. The victim refused to engage and the accused then slapped him and left. The accused was located later by police. A male, 21 years of age, from Saugeen Shores has been charged with assault. The victim was not injured.

Police attended a motor vehicle accident on Goderich Street at Gustavus Street. Two vehicles were stopped for the traffic light. The second vehicle started ahead in anticipation of the light changing to green and struck the rear of the vehicle in front. A driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act. There were no injuries and only minor damage.

January 19:

A male, age 18, from Wiarton, was found intoxicated on Elgin Street. He had been left stranded by his friends. The male was charged under the Liquor Licence Act. Police were able to contact his parents to come and pick him up.

January 20:

 A driver was charged on Tomlinson Drive for Using a Hand Held Communication Device (distracted driving), contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Police investigated a two vehicle collision on Albert Street at Adelaide Street. A vehicle southbound on Albert Street turned left and struck a northbound vehicle. A driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

At 4:30pm, police attended a report of a male causing a disturbance at the Southampton Library. The male had left the library but was located by police a short time later. The male was found to have been consuming alcohol, contrary to the conditions of a previous release, from the incident at the Subway Restaurant on January 18th. He was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and held in custody for a bail hearing.

January 21:

Police are investigating a report of a mischief at the All Seasons Motel on Goderich Street. A window in one of the units was broken while the room was rented out. Police are also investigating property that was left in the room including a “push dagger” which is considered to be a prohibited weapon in Canada.

January 22:

Police attended a domestic dispute at 4:30am. A male, age 52, from Saugeen Shores was charged with assault.

"We have been experiencing some mild weather. The winter weather is set to return soon. Please drive cautiously and leave extra stopping room as the roads will be slippery," said Inspector Ken McCulloch, Saugeen Shores Police Service
