The annual Caitlyn Cobean Girls' Silver Stick Tournament was held across the region and some 38 teams, coaches and parents filled the area's arenas from Tiverton to Paisley and Port Elgin to Southampton.

The tournament bears the name of Caitlyn Cobean, a young avid hockey player in Saugeen Shores, who died at the young age of 15 following a lengthy battle against cancer.

For three days, February 3rd - 5th, teams from every division played with the playoffs taking place on Sunday (Feb.5) at Port Elgin's PLEX.

The finals on Sunday saw Saugeen Shores Storm win the Midget C championship after a fast paced game that went to the last seconds of the game ending in a close score of 2-1.

The team's Savannah Brown scored two goals that made the difference in the team's win and goalie Marley Scott, was on her game after she stopped shot after shot from the Sepoys.

Storm Coach Bruce Ribey said that Lucknow's goalie is one of the best in the league.  "We have a lot of respect for Lucknow and each team just kept getting better as the season went on.  This tournament is in memory of Caitlyn and I know she would be proud her today."
