The students received an 'etiquette' reminder before boarding the bus

Then, it was Party TIME!!

G. C. Huston Public School of Southampton continues to shine as it stepped up for the annual Rotary Winterama fundraiser.

The whole school gets excited each year, including Principal Dan Russell and teacher, Enid Johnston.

The celebration began the day before, Friday February 24th, when the school held its own mini-Winterama and then continued the next day when students boarded the 'Party Bus' in the morning to head out to Winterama at the Plex in Port Elgin.

Not the 'Pied Piper' but Principal Russell ...

... followed by teacher, Enid Johnston,

It was loud music, balloons and snacks as the bus headed toward Port Elgin, taking the long route to prolong the fun.

"We wish that we had more room on the Party Bus," said Russell, "as there were many more students who wanted to go on it but we only had space for 65."

While it was about having fun, the students once again also raised an incredible amount of money for Winterama.  With close to $4,000 in hand, Principal Dan Russell said it will be closer to $5,000 when all the pledges finally come in.

G. C. Huston students claimed all nine top prizes for individual fundraising pledges.

The school receives back a percentage of the monies raised that will go toward the school Breakfast Program and other projects, such as the new outdoor track.

The remainder will go to Rotary projects for youth in the community.

While warm weather meant that outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing had to be crossed off the list of activities, everyone had fun on the ice, and then it was pizza time in Rotary Hall upstairs at the Plex.
