OPP to host March Break skate in Lion's Head

The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in conjunction with the Bruce Peninsula Safe Communities Committee, the United Way, Bruce Power and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)-Lions Head and Wiarton Branches, gave away several pairs of skates, many cups of hot chocolate and prizes to everyone who attended the free skating event at the Wiarton Arena and Community Center on February 20, 2017.

Thank you to everyone who attended and for making this event a success!

The employees of Bruce Power generously donated several pairs of skates for community members to hand out for young children with growing feet to adults that they could keep.

Both events are sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada who has donated free skate times, yummy hot chocolate, free giveaways, and a special visit by RBC's Leo the Lion.

The next date for free skating and fun for the family has been set during the March Break at the….

February 28, 2017 at 7:38 p.m., the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a male driver who was operating a 2002 Dodge pick-up truck while impaired on 6 highway, in the Township of Chatsworth. 

Upon speaking with the driver, police found the driver had been drinking alcohol.  The driver was transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for breath tests, in which he failed. 

 The driver, a 55-year-old male of the Township of Chatsworth, was charged with impaired driving, over 80 milligrams, drive disqualified x 2 and having open liquor. Police seized and impounded the vehicle for 45 days.

On March 2nd, Grey County OPP received a report of a missing/overdue person from a residence in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

On March 3, at 11:07 a.m. members of Grey County OPP, West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Owen Sound Inter-Town Fire Service located the deceased female.

Next of kin have been notified.  Police investigation is complete and foul play is not suspected.
