Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey will be hosting their annual International Woman’s Day celebration on March 4th, 2017 at the Lakeshore Recreation Centre in Port Elgin. Doors will open at 6:15 pm.
Here’s an introduction to our comedians:
Karen O’Keefe: Karen is sarcastic, silly, and always witty. Hailing from Canada's Northwest Territories, she began her comedy career in Calgary and now lives and laughs in Toronto. She shares her take on dating, drinking, and getting along with other humans, usually while in front of an audience. She has made several TV and radio appearances, including CBC's Halifax Comedy Festivaland The Debaters. In addition to performing stand-up, Karen has written for This Hour Has 22 Minutes and is a co-producer of the SheDot comedy festival in Toronto.
Michelle Shaughnessy makes everyone laugh! In the past few years this young comedian has really begun making an impact on the Canadian Comedy scene. Rising through the ranks of the comedy clubs, Michelle has gone on to become a comic in demand. She’s landed television appearances on The Comedy Network, W Network, Bite TV, CBC, iChannel, and MTV. Not only has she appeared on television she can also be heard in regular rotation on XM Satellite radio. She’s performed in the Sudbury Comedy Festival, Moncton Comedy Festival, Global Vancouver Comedy Festival, and both CBC’s Winnipeg Comedy Fest and Halifax Comedy Fest.
Last year, the trivia game was so much fun that it also will be returning! Brush up on your Women’s House knowledge for a chance to win an Apple IPad Mini donated by Bruce Power.
You can also bid on the amazing items in the live and silent auctions. This year, the Owen Sound Attack have donated a fantastic auction item, and Elgin Jewellers have donated a $700 TW Steel Watch. To see how beautiful this watch is, please go to our Facebook page. You want to be there and bid on these items!
This event is a celebration, and is also one of the major fundraisers for Women’s House. The purchase of a ticket is not only going to provide you with an afternoon filled with great food and entertainment, but also the chance to support a worthy cause in our community. Women’s House has had some difficulty meeting fundraising targets this fiscal year and would appreciate your support with this major fundraiser.
Tickets for this event are $50 each and available at Lakeshore
Recreation in Port Elgin and Gordon’s Pharmasave in Kincardine or by
calling Tiffany at Women’s House at (519)396-9814 ext.225.
