The Southampton Care Centre invites the public to attend the 'Better Seniors' Care' event on Thursday, March 30th at 2:00 p.m.

The event is to support the Ontario Long Term Care Association's campaign to bring attention to the need for increased funding to Long Term Care.  http://betterseniorscare.ca/

The Centre's focus is also to showcase some interesting concepts that are being utilized, such as REC programs and the Dementiability philosophy.

Resident-Led Events and Clubs, or REC programs, are just one of the unique features of life at the Southampton Care Centre, a Jarlette Health Services long-term care home.

The philosophy of REC is simple. Rather than just providing activities and entertainment, REC events and clubs bring together residents with common interests and a shared purpose. If there are no REC programs that are of interest, residents create their own club, with assistance from staff or volunteers.

The Dementiability Concept is best described as finding meaningful activities for residents to feel purposeful.
