Golden Rings |

Allison Salter had a busy and exciting day to see our Canadian, Ashleigh McIvor, win gold at Cypress Mountain in Ski Cross. We [parents] met up with Allison at Pan Pacific Hotel to watch the Hockey Game, Canada versus Germany. A much better out come. We could sit and see the Golden Rings as a result of our gold by Ashleigh in the Ski Cross. The rings are mounted on a barge across the harbour and the light reflects from the water at night - they are turned gold when we win a gold medal. The picture does not do them justice.
. Sails on Canada Place The second picture is of the sails on Canada Place as seen from the hotel. Everything in Vancouver seems to have an Olympic motif.

We then headed to a Pub where Allison was to meet up with her old Olympic Academy friends. We ate dinner on the restaurant side where the Women's figure skating event was on television. When Joannie Rochette skated, every one stopped and clapped and with each jump she made, the whole place cheered. When she finished, everyone was crying even the men had tears. Our hearts are with this girl and it made one of the most proud moments to be a Canadian. |
