Spring is blooming in Vancouver

The Flame is out and our hearts have calmed down from that exciting Gold Medal win in the hockey game.

People are leaving Vancouver en mass. The Olympic withdrawal is starting to set in.  In between our events and walk-abouts in Vancouver, we would stop every once in awhile to just take in the signs of spring.  Also to pinch ourselves that this was February.

Daffodils, a sure sign of spring

We have followed the weather on Saugeen Times and know that some of these pictures were taken when there were storms at home. We can see by the harbour pictures that spring is not quite into Ontario yet.  This has been the warmest winter in years here and who would have thought about that during the bid to bring the games to Vancouver.

Crocus are everywhere

One day last week we heard a report that Sochi Russia was slightly warmer than Vancouver. Sochi is the next city to host the Winter Olympics and has a similar climate to Vancouver and adjacent mountains where the games will be held.

While taking to a neighbour yesterday a mosquito landed on him.  Remember this is February. Lawn movers going and leaf blowers blowing.

The Arctic Geese were migrating in front of where we lived in Richmond. The smaller birds migrating and singing.  We saw robins early in our stay.  Bald Eagles returning

The Forsythia bushes are out in bloom and they do not come out until late April at home
