Music Director, Ian Burbidge (C) with talented musicians

Many studies have proven that music has a profound influence on learning and, at Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS), students involved in the music program have the chance to learn a variety of styles of music, ranging from Broadway musicals and the classics to jazz.

With a long and extensive history of teaching and playing as a professional musician, Music Director, Ian Burbidge, encourages the students to explore a wide variety of musical styles that range from Broadway's Beauty and the Beast to the movie theme Stand By Me and the jazz of Herby Hancok.

Many of the band also sing .. here they perform 'Beauty and the Beast'

The school band has travelled extensively playing in festivals throughout North America winning many awards and medals.  On March 3rd, they band will travel to Collingwood where it will perform three test musical selections.
