Technology Green Light for Bruce Unit 1

The CNSC gave approval to Bruce Power to increase unit 1 reactor power to more than 50% of its capacity. This is the last significant regulatory milestone before Bruce Power brings the newly refurnished unit at the Bruce A Nuclear Generating Station to full power and normal operation.

"Bruce Power has successfully completed all safety tests and has met CNSC regulatory requirements to bring unit 1 to full power," said Ramzi Jammal, CNSC Executive Vice-President and Chief Regulatory Operations Officer. “Our oversight of the unit’s operation will continue through normal compliance activities, marking the end of regulatory activities specific to reactor commissioning.”
