Leader Resources has put Kincardine on the map, as it becomes part of the world's longest green highway.

Sun Country Highway officially unveiled the free Electric- Vehicle (EV) charging station located at Leader Resources headquarters on Mahood Johnston Drive.

The EV charging station is one of a series running between London and Owen Sound, joining a network that spans the country.

“This means travellers have the opportunity to drive emissions-free along Ontario's West Coast, and they have another reason to stop and spend some time in Kincardine,” says Sun Country Highway vice-president Christopher Misch.

Misch has driven across Canada in an electric car, often using complimentary charging stations. Even when he is paying for the charge, he says it costs about the same as a stamp and envelope to “fill” his car. A charge can last up to 450 kilometres depending on the vehicle.'

“It's the future, and here at Leader Resources, the future is now," adds Kathryn Freimanis, executive vice-president at Leader Resources. "We are proud to support emissions-free travel. It means we all breathe easier.”

Leader Resources provides the EV charging station as a courtesy to the community. Three electric vehicles were on hand for charging and viewing as local business and municipal leaders gathered to watch the future of travel in action July 31.

The Tesla S Sedan is part of the greening of Leader Resources fleet. Project manager Bart Lavis owns an electric motorcycle, and Sun Country Highway's orange Tesla sports car wowed the crowd with its style and engineering.

Leader Resources is an experienced renewable energy developer headquartered in Kincardine with projects throughout Ontario and growing across Canada.

Sun Country Highway is a wholly Canadian-owned company focused on creating Canada's electric vehicle infrastructure. Its aim is to promote the adoption of clean energy transportation by greening Canada's highways.
