A yard sale and barbecue held Saturday, have raised $860 for the Allies for Alley Catz cat rescue, located in the Kincardine home of Donna Coughlan and Phil White.

The event was held beside Pet Valu in downtown Kincardine.

"We had a great turn-out for the sale and the barbecue," said Coughlan. "It was a wonderful day. Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, and had fun. We raised more than we expected and we are thrilled with the support."

Among those assisting with the event were: Donna Samantha St. John who entertained; Dustin Young of Re/Max who ran the hot dog and pop sales; Carole Robinson, her staff, the kids and Sandra (dog nail-clipping clinic) who donated time, energy, muscles, smiles, donations, and the property for the yard sale.

The kids had fun face-painting, making balloon animals for the youngsters, setting up and taking down.

Pet Valu is now set up with a kitten display centre. It currently features four 11-week-old black kittens who are available for adoption immediately. They have had their shots and been dewormed. There is another fund-raiser planned for Aug. 12,
5-9 p.m., between Allies for Alley Catz and Canadian Tire Jump Start, to help fund sports for kids.
