Driver facing court date after close call with police cruiser

(WALKERTON, ON) Aug. 7, at 6:56 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer was stopped to make a turn along Durham Street East in Walkerton when the police cruiser was almost struck by a blue Toyota pick-up.  

The truck was stopped and the officer discovered some mechanical problems with the vehicle. 

47-year-old Phil MESSERSCHMIDT of Brant Township was charged with Operate unsafe vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court Sept. 4 to answer to the charge.
