The Municipality of Kincardine, the Township of Huron- Kinloss and the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie are inviting the public to attend community open houses regarding the Natural Gas Supply Project.
The open houses are as follows:
The three municipalities have been investigating the feasibility of developing a natural gas supply to the constituents of these municipalities.
To supply the gas, a number of options are being considered. Councils of the municipalities have agreed to create a service corporation to advance the extension of a natural gas service to this region of Ontario.
In accordance with Regulation 599/06 under the Municipal Act, the municipalities must consult with the public about the proposal to establish the corporation before it can be established.
The open houses will provide information about potential alternatives to deliver natural gas to the municipalities, environmental constraints and regulatory requirements. Representatives from the municipalities, along with AMEC Environment and Infrastructure (AMEC) and Energy Fundamentals Group (EFG), will be in attendance to discuss the project, answer questions and record any comments.
The community feedback is valued and welcomed at the open houses or at any other point throughout the process. For those interested in receiving information about the project, a sign-up sheet will be available.
Sessions are being held in each municipality involved,. However, the public is welcome to attend any of the sessions.
