The 2012 winner of the Charlie Kelly Award for personal dedication to tourism in Bruce & Grey Counties is Southampton's Jenny Amy.

Amy, President of the Grey-Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association, was also recognized with the Bruce County Federation of Agriculture Award of Merit in April of this year.

Amy, who owns Chantry Breezes Bed & Breakfast in Southampton, was recognized for her commitment to promoting local culinary tourism and the 'buy local produce' concept.

The Kelly award is presented in  memory of Charlie Kelly, a former Owen Sound Alderman, who began the concept of winter tourism in the region.

Amy received the award at the recent 2012 Grey Bruce Regional Tourism Conference held Tuesday, October 16, at the Blue Mountain Resort .

A panel of seven judges chose Amy from almost a dozen nominees for her volunteerism and personal dedication to regional tourism.

There were also three honourable mentions:

  • Lorna Rouse, publisher of Grey-Bruce Escape regional tourism guide
  • Paul Chrysler, Natures Millworks owner in Paisley and chair of the new Regional Tourism Organization 7 (RTO7)
  • Leigh Grigg of Griggsport Strategies, regional sports tourism promotion
