Finally, after almost a week, Highway 21, from Kincardine to Port Elgin, was re-opened to traffic, Friday morning, Jan. 31.

This section of roadway was first closed Friday, Jan. 24, re-opened briefly Sunday, Jan. 26, and then closed again early Monday morning, Jan. 27.

Ironically, Highway 9, from Kincardine to Walkerton, which was open to traffic Thursday, Jan. 30, was closed again that night and remains closed Friday, Jan. 31.

Also closed is Highway 6, from Wiarton to Tobermory.

Bruce County Road 15, from Highway 21 to Bruce Road 1 at Glammis, remains closed, along with Bruce Road 40 from Bruce Road 3 to the Grey-Bruce Line; and Bruce Road 9 from Highway 6 at Ferndale to Lion's Head.

The South Bruce OPP is asking motorists to stay off the closed roads. The penalty for driving on a closed highway is a $110 fine and three demerit points, but the consequences can be far worse if you become involved in a collision, or stranded, in a white-out.

Do not call police for road/weather conditions; this is not a service that the OPP provides. For up-to-date road/weather information click here or call Bruce County Roads at 1-866-266-7569, option 2.

The forecast calls for yet another storm to hit the area on the weekend.
