House in Kincardine Township destroyed by fire

A house on the 9th Concession of Kincardine Township, Municipality of Kincardine, was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning.

Kincardine fire chief Jamie MacKinnon said the owners were not home at the time of the fire. It was reported around 3:30 a.m. by South Bruce OPP.

Six trucks and 21 firefighters responded from two fire stations. The Ripley-Huron Fire Department assisted with a tanker truck for water.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 10:30 a.m.

There were no injuries, said MacKinnon, but the house was lost in the blaze. Estimated loss is $250,000-plus, he said.

The fire is under investigation but is not considered suspicious, and the homeowner was insured.

UNCONTROLLED BURN REPORTED

An uncontrolled burn was reported, on the 
8th Concession of Bruce Township, Municipality of Kincardine, Saturday, at about 2 p.m.

MacKinnon said five trucks with 12 firefighters from two stations responded. There was no damage as the owner was burning brush and old posts.

MacKinnon reminds residents to obtain a burn permit before they have a fire to avoid possible charges.
