FIVE DRIVERS SERVED WARN RANGE SUSPENSIONS

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON)The South Bruce OPP issued five three-day driver's licence suspensions over the weekend. Three of the suspensions were issued at RIDE checkpoints; one was served at a single-vehicle crash.

(BRANT TWP, ON)April 23, at 2:35 a.m., a black Chrysler Concorde was stopped at a RIDE check stop on Highway 9, Brant Township, and officers noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 42-year-old driver was issued a three-day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the roadside.

(HURON TWP, ON)April 22, at 2:56 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 6, stopped a red Ford pick-up truck. The officer discovered that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 26-year-old driver was issued a three-day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the roadside.

(ELMWOOD, ON)April 22, at 12:18 a.m., a white GMC van was stopped at a RIDE check point on Main Street South in Elmwood. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 58-year-old driver was issued a three-day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the roadside.

(CULROSS TWP, ON)April 21, at 11:30 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a single-vehicle crash on the Kinloss-Culross Townline in Culross Township. Officers arrived to find that a white Chevrolet Avalanche left the roadway and entered the north ditch.  The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. The 17-year-old driver was issued a three-day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the road side and charged for Novice driver - BAC over zero. The driver was treated for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

(KINCARDINE, ON)April 21, at 3:46 p.m., a grey Dodge Dakota was stopped at a RIDE check on Huron Terrace in Kincardine. Officers noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The 60-year-old driver was issued a three-day licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the road side. 

Motorists are reminded that the South Bruce OPP has a zero tolerance for drivers that choose to drive after drinking alcohol.

LARGE QUANTITY OF TOOLS TAKEN DURING OVERNIGHT THEFT

(WALKERTON, ON)April 21, at 12:56 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of an overnight theft from a shed in the 400 block of Scott Street in Walkerton.

Sometime between 9:30 p.m. April 20, and 9 a.m. April 21 the locking system was damaged to allow entry to the shed. The list of stolen property includes:

  • Black and Decker 3 ¼” hand planer
  • Black and Decker palm sander
  • Black and Decker router
  • Black and Decker hammer drill
  • Drill bit set
  • Mastercraft air nailer
  • Mastercraft angle grinder
  • Mastercraft brad-nailer and tank
  • Mastercraft chisel set
  • Mask wood carving knives
  • Woodworking clamps
  • Two extension cords
  • Yard Works lawn mower

The value of the stolen items is estimated to be more than $3,000.
