(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON.) After a week long investigation, members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by the O.P.P. Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a Cameron Drive residence, on Saugeen First Nation.

On Thursday March 15th, 2012, during the late morning hours, officers conducted the search which revealed a quantity of live marihuana plants with a potential street value of approximately $29,000.00. A quantity of suspected Cannabis Resin, a prohibited weapon and related growing paraphernalia were also located and seized.

A resident of the home identified as 56-year-old Steven RITCHIE of Saugeen First Nation was arrested at the scene and has been charged with Drug Production, Drug Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. He has been released from police custody and is to appear in Provincial Court, Walkerton, ON on May 10th, 2012 to answer to the charges.

The investigation is continuing with a second arrest pending
