February has a busy start for local police

3 Feb 2012, at 9:17 pm police attended to the Plex in Saugeen Shores to a report of a fight in the stands. Numerous people were involved. Police are investigating and request if anyone can provide information or possibly a video of the event to contact police.  

4 Feb 2012, police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Shores, approximately 40 vehicles checked, no drinking and driving infractions. A further RIDE was set up on Railway St where 200 vehicles were checked, one roadside breath test was completed and the person passed. 

05 Feb 2012, at 9:59 am police responded to a report of a vehicle striking a hydro pole on Miramichi Bay Rd. A vehicle had been northbound on Miramichi Bay Rd, lost control skidded across a pedestrian bike path and into a ditch striking a hydro pole and trees breaking both. The vehicle received major damage and Hydro 1 needed to attend to repair the damage. Residents in the area were without power for several hours. The 44 year old male driver from Brooklin was arrested and charged with impaired driving. 

5 Feb 2012, at 12:46 pm police attended to Walmart in Port Elgin to a shoplifting complaint. A 47 year old Arran Elderslie woman was charged with stealing some garden lights, a blue ray DVD player, clothing and some other articles.
