The Ripley and District Horticultural Society held its annual Flower Show and Tea Wednesday afternoon (June 15) at the Ripley Arena.

The event was attended by about 80 horticultural enthusiasts from the area, with  a strong showing from Goderich.

Fourteen members of the Ripley Horticultural Society
entered garden plants or house plants in the different categories. Ontario Horticultural Association certified judge, Agnes Bregmans of Teeswater, had her work cut out for her. She gave comments and tips for all the participants.

Ann Finlayson of the organizing committee, presented I.C. Greenhouses gift certificates to the winners: Gail Van der Hoek, first; Shirley Harris, second; and Tryntje Eisen, third.

Visitors admired the many beautiful entries including peonies, irises, daisies, coral belles, day lilies, etc.

Tea was served in pretty decorated china with a slice of delicious angel food cake. Many attendants won door prizes to take home from this successful event.
