‘Raise The Woof’ has returned to Walkerton on June 11, 2011 with many vendors, games, live entertainment and of course, plenty of pooches!

"It’s a dog lover's festival,” said Carolyn McKeeman, Event Planner for the dog festival. ‘Raise The Woof’, in its second year, brought out dog lovers from the local area to show their stuff in doggie games, activities for the kids and vendors carrying food and dog related products for owner and dog alike.

"Its good,"  said local Walkerton resident Michelle Hillyear.  "We were here last year, and its good for her (Hillyer’s dog) to socialize."

John Van Veld of 'Raise the Woof' entertained the crowds

With the whole idea of 'DogStock' to be a fundraising event, voters were able to choose on FaceBook where they wanted their money to go toward ... and this year, it was St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dogs and Lucknow Adopt-a-Pet Rescues.

The therapy dogs visit nursing homes, hospitals and other places where their therapeutic for the folks they (the dogs) visit.

"We’re here to promote the program and share the love of the dogs," said Kaye Parker, Co-ordinator from St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dogs, "and we are thrilled to be nominated."

"We brought some of our dogs who are looking for caring homes," said Brenda McCreight, from Lucknow Adop-a-Pet Rescue. Some of the dogs have been with the rescue facility since 2009.

With people and pets coming and going,  McKeeman was very positive that 2011 would be another successful year!
