According to Student Administrative Council (SAC) member at Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS), Connor Cobean, SDSS will be participating this year in the "Heroes for Hope" fight against cancer.

Cobean says that he will take part by shaving his head and encourages other students and teachers to do the same, or cut or dye their hair, in the fundraising effort.

"Our school has set a goal to raise $3,000," says Cobean, "and if we reach it, our Chemistry teacher, Mrs. Hilbig has said that she will shave her almost waist-length hair.

To date, $1,745 has been raised and Cobean adds that he hopes the community will get behind this school effort to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The funds raised from this event helps fund things such as "leading-edge  Pediatric cancer research", offering community-based support for people living with cancer and their families and advocating for healthy public policies.
