After eight years as Chief of Saugeen First Nation, Randall Kahgee has decided not to run for re-election taking place in June (2014).

Kahgee, a lawyer, said that he has decided to "... take a couple of years off as Chief and return to law practice".

"I would like to take a couple of years off," says Kahgee, "but will not be leaving the area as my children are in school here.  After eight years and considerable deliberation, I decided it was time to take a break. We still have a number of unfinished projects that I hope will be picked up by the new Chief and Council."

Kahgee has not however, closed the door to returning in a future bid for Saugeen First Nation Chief.

According to the Chief, a more formal announcement will be issued in the near future.
