STORY TIME!

Story Time & Craft – Join us for a fun FREE preschool story time program including songs, games, stories and general silliness followed by a craft! Adults must stay for the program.

Saturday Stories – Join one of our student pages for some fun tales on Saturday mornings at 10:30.

BOOK CLUBS

Lug-a-Mug, Kids’ and Tweens’ Book Club - Meetings are on hiatus during the summer months, but the Lug-A-Mug club is reading outside the box with a bingo game. If you’d like to play along this summer, just ask for a card! Crazy for Classics meets on July 25 at 2 pm. They are discussing “The Mountain and the Valley” by Earnest Buckler. All clubs resume in September. Sign up for the fall session of the Kid’s or Tweens’ clubs any time! (Tuesday evenings, beginning Sept 9)

SPECIAL EVENTS

TD Summer Reading Club – Summer wouldn’t be complete without the TD Summer Reading Club @ your library! Come in and get your “EUREKA” package and be on your way to a fantastic, fun summer full of great adventures, showing off your awesome creativity and an EXCLUSIVE VIP party (see below for details) to wrap things up. Register at the circulation desk today!

Maker’s Station - In celebration of the TD Sumer Reading theme, there will be a creation station set up at both branches all summer long during all open hours. Different materials and supplies will be available. Use your imagination to create something wild, weird or wonderful (or all three!). Feeling extra proud?…let us take a picture of your masterpiece before you take it home! Take a break from the heat and enjoy the air conditioning at the library. All ages welcome.

Tween Time (Tiverton) – Pop in to the Tiverton branch for this new program JUST for ‘Tweens! No registration required. Bring your friends for a fun night out at the library! Call the branch for more information.

Scottish Festival Story Tent – Look for the Story Tent on the Scottish Festival grounds this year! Come out and enjoy some family time under the shade. Drop in and enjoy stories, crafts and fun.

Make It, Take It (Tiverton)- Stop in to the Tiverton Branch on Saturday mornings for a fun make and take craft. No registration required for this FREE event!

Maker’s Club Meeting - Now’s your chance to join in at the library, talk about what you’re reading and make some cool crafts! Designed for the 6-12 year old crowd, using the “Makers” theme, it’s a fun outing for our ‘tween patrons every Tuesday afternoon all summer long. Tickets are required for these FREE programs, and space is limited to 15 participants. Tickets for each club meeting will be available beginning the Tuesday prior.

Chalk-It-Up! (Both branches)- Come on out and show off your artistic side on the sidewalk in front of the library! Sidewalk chalk & other outdoor fun will be available for use every Wednesday in Kincardine and every Friday in Tiverton.

WIN! WIN! WIN! ~ The REEL Art Contest: As a fund-raising initiative for our “Sprout A Reader” program, where our goal is to provide every baby born in Bruce County with a literacy package, we are having a fun fish art contest. Top prize is $100!! Stop in for more details. Open to all ages. Entry fee is $20.

Animal Party Creature Show (Kincardine)- Get your FREE ticket to this fantastic event coming to our Kincardine Branch. See all kinds of creatures up close and personal right in the library!

Bre-Creative & Dicky Bird (Kincardine)- Join the fun out on the street during the BIA Summer Street Market event as we present an a-m-a-z-i-n-g face painting/balloon twisting artist along with local legend children’s entertainer Dicky Bird. All FREE thanks to the support from TD Canada Trust! (Inclement weather plan: we will be in the library)

 


TD Summer Reading Club Wrap-Up Party- THE place to be on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 5pm. Come join us for food, music, games and prizes as we wrap up our summer reading club for 2013. FREE TICKETS AVAILABLE, WHILE SUPPLIES LAST, UNTIL AUG. 23rd! This party is EXCLUSIVELY for our Summer Reading Club members!

TERRY FALLIS VISIT!!!! - We are THRILLED to be hosting an appearance by bestselling author, Terry Fallis at the Kincardine Branch this summer. Terry’s debut novel, “Best Laid Plans” was awarded the 2008 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour as well as 2011 CBC Canada Reads as the “essential Canadian novel of the decade”. We are excited to add this unique dimension to last year’s Lug-A-Mug book club discussion of his work. FREE tickets are available for this event at the Kincardine circulation counter. Some events are not directly supervised by library staff, but are offered as a service to our patrons. We ask that parents/guardians use discretion when sending older children unsupervised to participate in our events.
